FAQ

The camera

Is this a real camera or a toy?

It is a real camera with a small sensor in a plastic body, and we are not going to pretend it is more than that. What it does well is make photos that look like a specific night instead of a phone render. That is the whole product.

How many megapixels is it?

Our supplier lists conflicting numbers, so we do not publish one. What we can tell you is what it actually does: 1080p video and stills with the warm, grainy look these cameras are bought for.

Is the zoom optical?

No. It is 8× digital zoom. The further you push it, the softer the shot gets.

What comes in the box?

The camera with a memory card already in the slot, a USB charging cable and a sheet of stickers.

Are there really games on it?

Yes — two small ones, built in. We did not put them there and we are not selling you the camera for them, but people find them and enjoy them, so it seems only fair to mention it.

Does it come with a memory card?

Yes, always. Every camera ships with the card already in the slot — you just choose the size: 8, 16, 32 or 64GB. The camera cannot take a photo without a card, so we do not sell it without one. Nothing to buy separately, nothing to remember on the day it arrives.

Which size should I pick?

8GB is about 2,000 photos and it is what most people take. Step up if you shoot video, or if you would rather not think about it for a year.

Do I need to do anything before using it?

Two things. Charge it, and format the memory card inside the camera the first time you use it — otherwise it will not save photos. This is the single most common thing people email us about.

Why does it make a sound when I switch it on?

It plays a start-up chime, and it is louder than you would expect. There is no way to turn it off. Outdoors you will not notice it. In a quiet room, everyone will.

Why does the clock reset every time?

Because it has no internal battery for the clock. If you want the correct date stamped on your photos, set it again each time you power on. If you do not use the date stamp, you can ignore this entirely.

Getting photos off it

Is there an app?

No, and there is no Wi-Fi either. Photos live on the memory card.

So how do I get them onto my phone?

Put the card into one of our card readers and plug the reader into your phone. The photos appear in your Files app. It takes about a minute, with no app to install.

Which reader do I need?

  • iPhone 15 and newer, and most Android phones: the USB-C reader.
  • iPhone 14 and older: the Lightning reader.

I already have a card reader. Do I need yours?

Only if yours plugs into a phone. Most card readers people already own are USB-A — the wide rectangular plug that goes into a laptop. Ours are the phone kind, so the photos go straight onto the device you actually post from. If you are happy moving photos through a computer, you do not need ours at all, and we would rather say so than sell you something twice.

Ordering

What does shipping cost?

Nothing. Shipping is free on every US order, with no minimum. We build it into the product price rather than adding it at checkout.

How long will it take?

Most orders arrive within 8–16 days. That is our shipping partner's estimate for this route, not a guarantee — customs or a carrier can push a parcel past it, and if that happens we email you with the tracking. We ship directly from our manufacturing partner, which is what keeps the price where it is, and it is also why this takes longer than a domestic warehouse would. If you need it this week, please do not order.

Do you ship outside the US?

Not yet.

What if I do not like it?

Email us within 30 days of delivery and we will start a return with you. Write to us first, before sending anything back.

How do returns work?

Email us first — always. We reply within 1 business day with a decision and return instructions. The item needs to come back in the condition it arrived in, with its packaging, and return postage is yours unless the item was damaged, faulty or wrong, in which case we cover everything. Full details are on our returns page.

Why are there no reviews on the site?

Because we are new and have not had customers yet. We would rather show you nothing than show you reviews we made up.
